No 4th gear. Trans refreshed 2500 miles ago

Got a weird problem going on. Want to get your opinions on what it might be and if there are any last minute things I can check without having to pull the trans again.

To start from the beginning.. I had my evo 9 transmission rebuilt around 2500 miles ago. Did the faceplated 1st and 2nd gear, Carbon synchros 3-5, Evo 8 3rd and 4th upgrade, rem treatment, and billet output tube..

trans has been great. Shifted great. Gave me no problems.

a couple months ago I went to the track and started having an issue where my car was wanting to take off and go even with the clutch pressed in (which means clutch wasn’t fully engaging). So got it back home and eventually got it to the shop I go to and he said the pressure plate / clutch cover basically came apart.

(keep in mind even with the clutch engagement issue, 4th gear WAS working)

so we upgraded to an Exedy triple disc. It’s in the car now and drives fine except I have no 4th gear??

it completely hits a wall when trying to go to 4th. Every other gear works fine.

I have tried shifting at the trans with the cables disconnected and still will not go into 4th.

My thoughts are possibly was having clutch drag with the engagement issue that I wasn’t aware of?

any input?

Sounds like a possible shift fork or trans issue. If it won't go into 4th with the car off and cables disconnected then its not a clutch issue. But, it is hard to Diagnose things over the interwebs.

Who built the trans? Maybe they can tell what the problem is I’m sure this has happened to somebody else. Good luck !

sounds like what happened to me when the 3/4 fork broke, sucks mine happened like 300 miles into my rebuild literally the first time I raced it when I got it back. just hope nothing else got damaged in the process. mine I had to replace the mainsheet, 3rd gear and the fork obviously.

So 4th gear worked. Shop pulled trans, installed clutch and put trans back in and you no longer have 4th? Id be asking the mechanic who performed the trans r&r.
