MR 6-Speed Upgrades?

Are there any companies that still offer reliable upgrades for the 6-speed trans? I know gear 4-6 aren't strong and there used to be aftermarket support. But having a hard time finding anyone who can do it.

Looking to be in the 700whp range and love the 6 speed for freeway driving.

Thanks

I would contact Albins to see if they would be willing to sell you the 3 - 5 gear set that they make. I don't know if they discontinued it or not, but as a gear manufacturer you would think that they could just build you a set. Jacks Transmissions would probably do the work for you if you need it installed. They used to have the gears in stock so if you send them a set with your trans, I don't know why they would refuse the work.

I am one of the few that converted from a 5 speed to a 6 speed for the freeway driving as well. I don't drive the car as hard as I used to, but it does see 500 - 600whp pulls on occasion. That said, I do eventually plan to put the 5 speed back in it when it comes time to rebuild the 6 speed. Back and forth every time they wear out basically.

It doesnt make sense to have a 6speed EVO with almost 900bhp.
For that whp Your best option is to upgrade it to a 5 speed.
who drives a 700whp EVO in 6th gear?
youll never be able to accelerate in 6th gear with a 700whp motor unless your going way over a buck.

the upgraded Albin's gearset for the 6spd is rated for 600hp reliably per Jacks.

Ya I'm not looking to do pulls in 6th. I just want to keep it for highway driving so i'm not at 3k rpm's going 80 down the freeway.

You can do that with a well thought through and built 5spd.

Moving from the 6 to the 5 was the best thing I ever did on my Evo 8

FYI with the mfactory final drive on my albins 6 speed it is a few hundred rpm lower in 6th when I am cruising on the highway at 70mph.... I don't remember the exact rpm (I drive my car a few hundred miles annually maybe)

First off, I loved my six speed more than any person on this earth it's the entire reason I bought an MR instead of the GSR.
THat being said, I had to give it up because, despite putting the strongest gearsets ever made, there are still faults in the design and engineering of the transmission.
There are Other areas of weakness that can't be fixed.
Per TRE, that is.
Believe me, this bums me out more than anything, but it wasn't a risk I was willing to take. I have been relatively happy with my five-speed, I don't feel it detracts from performance at all.
However, being relatively low horsepower, I would rather have kept the six.
I'm not trying to say anything negative about what you are trying to do, just putting this out there so that you can have all your research done before spending a ton of money on it.
Either way, Goid Luck!

Can you give some more info on your Albins? You gotta let your evo eat!

It's really nothing special. Taller final drive for better cruising rpm. I also put in a wavetrack diff. The drivetrain is a little noisier than the factory setup (which I like the sound) Car is just over 500whp with e85, but since I don't drive it much I keep 93 in it.

It's the 4th gear track use that kills the 6 speed. The local track I ran when I had my Evo 8 MR was a lot of 4th gear, which did this:

Nope, just went and made awful awful crunchy sounds that I could hear over my car and through my helmet at over 100mph.
