That's look good. Did you use one of those? What is the benefit of using them over the oem? Its thicker so it will not bend I guess. I will contact them.

These have the same part number as what i posted above, and they say its for 5spd.
both ends with small bushings.

so still confuses when some say 5spd is 1 big and 1 small...
going to be working on my car all day tomorrow, installing double pumper and new fuel lines everywhere.
so while I'm at it I will find time to change the cables hopefully.

As of this evening I can verify that the MR581210 shift cables do fit the Evo 8 five speed transmission.

Coming in almost two years later to say, thank you!!! I recently had a shifter cable bust on my evo 8 5 speed and everywhere I looked the original part is discontinued. I went to Mitsu and they basically told me "we don't make those anymore it's discontinued, but here's the part number. good luck".

This was the only thread I found offering any useful information on how to fix/replace the cable and can now also confirm MR581210 works on evo 8 5 speeds. It does come with two small connectors rather than one small and one big, but the lengths and connections are still correct and so far it has been working as expected.

Thanks again mitsuorder
