Injector Seal Replacement

I have searched and searched but find no videos on the best method/tools for replacing the lower injector seals so maybe this means they are easy to do??? I have all 4 injectors leaking air over 20ish PSI on my 05 Evo 8 so I have a set of 4 OEM upper o-ring, lower o-ring and the rubber spacer/neck in route for me to replace this weekend. I have read up on how to remove the rail and the injectors themselves but what about the lower O-ring/seals?

- Will a hook tool or flathead get out the original lower seals ok and I just need to not scratch the side walls?
- Should I be trying to find a lower seal removal tool and if so, suggestions? It is a small space so I don't have much room back there.
- Is there a tool I should use to safely install the new seals into the block or just line them up and lightly hammer them in?
- My understanding for the final re-install is to add a touch of engine oil on the upper O-ring and the lower injector neck before inserting or should something else be used to insure a better seal?

Don't want to jack the seals up as I only bought 4 and I want to get a good seal for pressure in the high 20s.
Thanks

You just remove them w/your fingers. No serious prying required. I lightly lube the new ones w/engine oil so they insert fully into the port. You can even leave the injectors connected to the harness as there is no real need to remove the fuel rail out of its area. Just un-bolt the rail & you will be able to remove each injector & replace both upper & lower seals

Thanks. Now I just have to hope that the injectors are ok. I saw a pic once of someone who had a set that had the bottom tips all broken off and they looked plastic, ugh.

I am running ID1000 injectors and had a bigger issue locating the proper lower brown seal for my injectors. I can't remember the details but the seals they sent me were too thick or something. Replacing the seal itself was cake.

Grrrr

Well, got the OEM lower seals today and they slide up/down on the injector tips without any resistance at all. I don't see how this is going to keep any pressure. Do these injectors only seal based on them being pushed inward toward the engine/lower seals when tightening the rail? If I can spin them freely after the rail is tightened, I'm sure they wont hold boost. If that is the case, should I shave down the rail spacers to make the injectors tighten against the intake manifold/seal more?

No, certainly dont shave down those rail spacers. Yes, the lower seal seems to float on the lower injector but once the fuel rail is installed & secured it should be OK.

Once installed, run the motor & w/a flash light inspect all 4 lower & upper seals to ensure no visible leaks
