Evo 8 tinny rattle sound.
Evo 8 tinny rattle sound.
Hey all,
Bought an 8 MR yesterday and on the drive home from Sydney to Brisbane (900km) I noticed a sound that seems to be getting louder as I drive it more. I've uploaded a video to YouTube where you can hear it, particularly in the last 5 seconds of the clip:
https://youtu.be/BstHCBHtRII
As you can hopefully hear it's a very tinny, rattley, metal on metal kind of sound. I can't feel anything, only hear it. The noise gets louder the faster I'm travelling, and it only happens when I'm giving it very light throttle, I can't hear it at all if I'm decelerating or giving it more than a tiny bit of gas. Can't seem to hear it at all going under 30k/h.
The car is very close to standard with only an Exedy heavy duty clutch and a turbo timer that the last owner installed. 54,000k/m on it and in very good condition. I slid my skinny butt under there today and tapped around all of the exhaust shields I could see. Couple people I've shown the video thing it might be an issue with the clutch?
Anyway any advice or insight would be very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Andrew.
