It might be the "same", but the Rockwell isn't the same. We tested the Kia head that matches the evo8, and it was significantly softer than an Evo8 head that had ~100k miles on it.

I would not use the Kia/Hyundai heads.

Any chance that the increased Rockwell hardness has occurred as a result of repeated heat cycling after 100k?

BMW for that reason in their Formula 1 4-cylinder turbo engine blocks (cast iron) used old engine blocks with 100k plus miles on them ...

No, aluminum heads soften with heat cycling. Engines don't run hot enough to heat treat and harden metal.

The process you're referring to of using a seasoned block is different, and the metal doesn't get harder. It simply "relaxes" to its natural state, and sometimes it reveals imperfections that can be fixed (like the main line goes out or something). We do this with our machine shop where we bake new blocks 2-3 times before we do any machine work. But it's really not as big of an issue with modern castings.

Thinking of using a 4G63 lower block together with a Kia head ! Is that possible ?

Mivec heads are very costly .

secondly if anyone has made a billet head and lower block in china ? Maybe we can all do a group buy and If anyone has done so before ?

The Veloster N and Elantra N engine is “similar” to the Evo Xbas they both come from the GEMA engine sharing thing.
