Since you have previously had issues with the wastegate, perhaps it isn’t closing all the way? You could bypass the ebc and see what boost you hit.

 

how do i bypass the ebc?

i also got suspicion my stri boost gauge might be the cause with ignition on it will rest a bit above 0
looked up videos about the gauge all have them a bit under 0

 

You would go straight from boost source/charge pipe to wastegate canister.

I am sure someone here can tell you what to expect for boost level on an evo9 turbo running just on spring pressure.


I would also double check you don’t have a boost leak and test with another gauge.

I was recently troubleshooting a faulty canister and a hand pump allowed me to test the system and set preload correctly.
