Switching from PTE to Garrett

I figured I’d make a small and not super detailed write up on this because I haven’t found much on it.

since deciding I wanted to focus on my driving skills and compete in time attack this coming season I wanted to switch my turbo setup. Previously I had a pte 5858, as some of you know these aren’t very reliable for track use, so after consulting with Ronnie at RS I decided on the g25-550.

The issue I was coming to was, I wanted to keep my current manifold and exhaust. For better context I have the AMS gen2 Vband manifold and down pipe with the AMS catback. After doing a decent amount of research and measurements from diagrams found online, I came to a conclusion that minimal to no fabrication would need to be done. I will attach a picture showing that I was right, it was nearly a direct fit. So if anyone out there happens to have the same or similar setup I do and wants to switch to a garret G series turbo, it’s a quite easy swap.

I hope this will help someone in the future and same you some time doing research.

Yes. Gt28-gt35 (g25-g35) and precision 55mm-68mm are the same pattern and interchangeable except for the different fluid lines, and possibly different compressor in/out size which just require different couplers.

I guess I was more surprised that I didn’t have to do any fab work on the DP to fit correctly. I was told by a few different people that the DP would need to be reworked.
