Custom intercooler pipe for under $50
Custom intercooler pipe for under $50
Here is my custom I/C pipe that I made for my Evo. It took only one day to mesure, cut and weld. Now I just have to dyno it and sand it down. Hope it gains hp but it already feels faster at takeoff. Hope yall like it.
what kind of tools did you use to measure it, as in finding the right angles to cut the piping and such? anything special or did you pretty much cut and test fit, cut and test fit? i am going to be doing the same for my kit soon. looks real good though, and saved you some cash

Very nice! Please post materials and inlet/outlet sizes if you can. I will be making my own testpipe and downpipe soon and was hoping to do the UICP pipe too...looks like your a couple steps ahead of me!
The pipes I used were from JC Whitney. They were 2.5 inch and the 180 bends. I only used four pieces. I cut one of the U bends in half to get the pipe from the intercooler and used the other for the top from the throttle. Another piece from the end of the bottom one to just around the intake. SInce I was using the stock hose for the top, I just cut the top piece where the hose ends leaving about a 1.5 in coverage. The last piece was the middle of a U bend pipe. It was the piece that connest the top to the bottom pipe. After that, I was about done except for the BOV. LIke the stock one, theres a little piece on it that connects a hose to the BOV. I had to find a 1 in pipe from home depot , drill a hole and weld it on. The stock hose for the BOV fits good for a 1in pipe. If you have the stock intake, I dont know if it will fit. I havednt tried it. Also, I have a Forge BOV and didnt worry about trying to make it fit for a stock BOV. Hope fully soon I get to dyno it. My stock dyno was 239hp and 245 torque. That's about it. Easy.

Did you feel any difference when you drove the car? Is the BOV louder or anything?
Also does this sit lower than the stock pipe setup? Us there any reason you could have not taken the pipe all the way up to the throttle body?

makes me wonder how anyone can justfiy selling these pipes for $400-900 ???????
i realize welding is an art form, but if the materials were less than $50 bucks... they are charging WAY TO MUCH,,...
