I have an Evo nine that I have suffered rod bearing failure in number one cylinder. On tearing it down, I found what looks like a piece of round aluminum foil plugging the pickup screen. It’s about the size of a seal on a can of oil. Silver on one side and gold on the other and it’s quilted I checked out the cylinder head oil, drain back ports and the only way it would go through one of those is folded, and if it did go through one of those, the hole in the block is much smaller and it would not fit through that hole. Anyone have any ideas? Found this piece of aluminum foil blocking my oil pump screen. Kind of looks like a seal from an oil bottle. I have no idea how it could’ve gotten into the pan if it was accidentally dropped into the oil filler in the valve cover I can fold it and get it to go into the oil drain port of the cylinder head but the hole in the block is much too small for it to go through. Car has 35,000 miles and surely it hasn’t been there since it was new. The sealant on the engine oil pan is light gray and looks like it may have been resealed at one point as the sealant was not applied, uniformly all the way around. Any ideas?
Oil botle aluminium seal, that fell in during oil change. Happened to me too yesterday, and I'm now considering to remove oil pan.
Could you please post a pic of pickup tube too? Was it partially clogged by sludge?
Thank you
