EFR7064 vs Evo 9 turbo

Need some help making an informed guess,
Been offered an unused EFR7064 for less than half the cost of a new one, I have an Evo 9 turbo, hypertune manifold, plazmaman compressor outlet and 3.5" turbo outlet that i was planning to use, simple setup to give me good midrange and quick spool.

I'm trying to understand how the 7064 will compare with the 9 turbo, I've read that the 7064 struggles to make over 400whp on pump gas, I understand the 7064 isn't the ideal EFR turbo but given the cost, I need to decide whether its worth it over a 9 turbo. Seems 7064 spool won't be much later than a 9 turbo but seems to make a bit more power everywhere else, I don't know how the 264 cams will affect spool and power in the midrange. 7500rpm isn't super high, I think a 9 turbo falls off after sorta 6500?

Goal is response and beefy midrange, probably rev out to 7.5k max.

Evo 5
Built bottom end 9.0:1
Kelford 264 cams and springs
Intercooler, UICP, LICP,
Full 3" exhaust
Haltech ECU
1000cc injectors
255lph fuel pump

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers

depending on the exhaust housing that is on it you will make more power than a stock turbo and spool about the same.

Sounds like a tuning issue to me. That turbo with what you have posted should make that with ease. Get a tuner that isn't scared to tune on pump gas.

7064 is a good option, it will spool around the same as stock and will make more power than the Evo 9 turbo.
Here is the dyno sheets from my car, but i'm using the 7670 with 0.92 IWG TS T4 exhaust housing. Honda electric wastegate actuator controlling boost.
We had to calm the boost ramp to limit the torque at low rpm.
Red line is pump gas with 15psi.
Purple is E40 (Ron93 mixed with E85) with 22psi.

2.3L Stroker + Mivec. All the normal goodies.

The main benefit to doing this 7064 is for reliability and larger exhaust flow which reduces EMAP.
The exhaust housings are stainless steel, so you wont have issues with cracking or warping with high temps.
I would very highly recommend doing the turbosmart twin-port internal wastegate actuator, otherwise you'll run into boost issues using the factory supplied BorgWarner unit.
Hypertune make an exhaust manifold for these without EWG ports. Pics below.

Thanks RSMike for the informative response, I might PM you as I see you're from NZ too and might be able to shed some light on some other queries i have too.
Beautiful setup mate, and very intrigued by the Honda electric actuator, will need to look into that some more.
I bet its a weapon on e40, 500nm at 3000rpm is just mental and it just gets more and more! I'll pm you to see if you're keen for a chat.

Since I started the thread, I've bought an Evo 9 long block for my 5(waiting arrival) so my turbo budget is well and truly gone so I will stay with the Evo 9 turbo for now.
I was trying to understand the gain/cost ratio vs my goal, 7064 + manifold + lines + fab $5-7kNZD, now with the 9 engine with Mivec and supporting mods should get close enough to my goal.

Has anyone tried to use the honda civic wastegate with the stock ECU? If it couldn't be directly controlled, surely some sort of electronics could be between the ecu and the honda egate actuator?

EDIT: Looks like this would work? Would just need a bracket for the actuator?
