Question Boost Guage Power Source

Just ordered my Defi D boost guage and was looking on the how tos. I pretty much understand everything that needs to be done under the hood but still fuzzy on the power source for the guage. If anyone can chime in, I would like to get different ideas on the power source for the guage. I've seen a couple but would like to see more or if not simpler approach.

Thanks in advance.

Use your CD Player wiring harness, grab a multimeter.

Are you talking about gauge power? Or the light?

You can get the power by tapping into the harness under the console for the Cigar lighter, you can also do the gauge light through that too, however the wiring for our car's lighting is kinda quirky, since what you normally expect to be ground for the light, is actually the wiring to the dimmer (rheostat) and the positive is a constant 12v that comes on when the dash lights come on..

For the light. Is there any similar wire that you mentioned located on the driver side or anywhere near the steering column that can control dimming? Or is link #1 my best bet.
