First mods to do...
First mods to do...
Hey guys, i was planning on getting a lancer for the longest time and getting as much HP and TQ i could out of it and try and make it faster than a stock evo. I gave up on that plan a little while ago.
I'm going to be getting an EVO within 5 months but i need to calculate how much $$$ i will need with some basic but powerful mods. Im guessing i will have around 3-5k to spend on mods. Im kinda noobish on evos i dont even know where to start. Im looking for the most performance.
If anyone has some tips please let me know

Do a search - there are TONS of threads on this as you can imagine.
Reflash, full turboback exhaust, cams, cam gears, gauges to start. That should cover $3k with installations.
Edit - or go with the staged packages from people like Bushur or Vishnu.

check out www.buschurracing.com for their staged upgrades. you will likely find the most performance for your future EVO you are looking for.
From high 12's to mid 11's under 5K. What's your choice of weapon?

I was looking at the Stage upgrades from Vishnu earlier. I like those but i want to know the pricing on the last one. 550-600hp i think is what it was.... the one before is about $2500 so i wonder how much that package will be. I will call them later about it.. If its less then 7k i might keep my car stock for a little bit longer so i can get that but i'm not sure.

Most people cannot afford the MR. The new '04 Evo with wing, sunroof and sound will be 33K MSRP. What do you think a hot limited MR will be? At least 36K plus insane dealer markups and no test drives. It will not be easy to pick up an MR, especially at first.
3 to 5k will buy you some good power. Turboback exhaust, boost control, intake and a reflash are a good start and will provide nice gains over stock.

...that would be my first mod..... for sure....
Since you admit to your noob status, heres my first mod suggestion:
Learn how to handle 271 hp, then move on. I cannot grasp how people are thinking of modding an Evo before they even own it, not even realizing how fast the stock piece really is.....
