Powershifting?

I know this is a newbie question, and I have searched but have not found my answers. What exactly is powershifting? Please describe the technique, how it helps, and why it is so bad for your tranny...

I've noticed a loss in power and I cannot tell if it is the engine or tranny. Anyways my friends suggest its the tranny cause he has a friend who has broken his three times (evo). Before I compression test my engine I want to know what possibly could have happened to my tranny. Thanks

I think when people say power shifting or speed shifting, they mean shifting up a gear very fast without lifting the right foot. you will feel a big impact when you do that.
