A turbo timer allows you to take the key out of your car and have the engine still run for a preset amount of time to allow the turbo to cool and have the hot oil flow out of it. It preserves the turbo and lengthens its lifespan. It's very good at what it does

Have to have it out of gear and the parking brake on (at least on my Apexi) if these conditions are not met the car just shuts off.

There are some big discussions on this forum about that. If you can take it easy for a little while before you park then you probably do not need one. Personally I was not going to get one but I could not take it easy (have a short drive anyway) and I just got sick of waiting in the car for a minute after I got some place. My car is stock except for K&N drop in just to let you know.

No problem I see it as cheap insurance (less then $100). I got mine used on the forum for $40 and a HKS harness from Gruppe-S for $18 so it was very cheap, another reason why I did it.

I think it just comes down to what other features you want and the looks of the units since basically they all do the same thing. I like the Apexi and the Blitz units because the display is a seperate piece from the electronics this gives you more mounting options, but all of them are good I think. I wanted to get the Blitz one with the built in boost guage but since I got a good deal on the Apexi I went with that instead.

I have a turbo timer built into my CLifford alarm which is a good feature. If you want to spend the money on the TT then go ahead but I would just use the money for other practical and power making mods.

Just drive conservatively a mile before you reach your destination and you should be fine.

Plenty of vendors on this site carry them and may have one on sale or the classifieds are a good place to get a deal.
