Best EMS?

FCON, XEDE, AFC? What if money was no object? What's the best EMS for performance tuning? Most verstile and programmable. Is it best to replace stock ECU or work with the stock ECU? Thanks for any suggestions.

If money's no object, the Motec m800/m880 is the best "packaged" aftermarket standalone EMS available. Most ALMS/Grand Am racers run it, yet it can still be tuned for very good streetability. However, there are not that many people on this board that have direct experience with Motec. On the other hand quite a few people on this board, including vendors (e.g. AMS), are familiar with the AEM EMS.

As with anything of this nature, once you are comparing systems with similar capabilites, they become nothing but tools in the hand of the tuner. Given how important that aspect is, you may be better off with something like a XEDE where the mapping/tuning quality of the installed product is guaranteed to be high.

It all depends on your objectives.
