Check the ownwers manual for the oil capacity. I believe its 4.6 qts. or maybe 4.8.
Do a search for after market oil filter part #s, its been discussed about a million times. The factory part # is MZ something something, dont recall right off hand. I usually just ask the dude at the counter to get me a filter for an EVO.

The factory filter is a Denso. If you do a little searching, there is an article posted on the internet that tears apart most of the major aftermarket brands and compares the differences in quality of them.

I just changed mine yesterday. I used a Mobile 1 (M1-108) oil filter, and German Castrol full synthetic 0W-30. I've read alot on what would be the best oil to go with and everyone who's anyone in the racing world (professional) all raves about this oil. You have to look on the back of the black bottle and make sure it says (Make in Germany). This stuff is BMW, and porche approved! LOL....Picked up the oil for about $5.50 a quart and the mobil 1 filter for $10. If you can afford it...it will greatly extend the life of your engine.

I use the K&N Filter and Mobil 1 oil. You can get a 5qt for $20 at Walmart.

Balder dash... Porche and BMW are fine cars but my son's AMG specifies Mobile 1. If anyone can produce test reults from any scientific study to support the assertion that Castol is better than Mobile 1, bring it. BTW I ran Castrol in my Austin Healey back in the mid 60s and GTX in all of my cars and bikes until Mobile 1 came out and have no axe to grind here. It would be good to remember that Rodger Penski has endoresed Penzoil and STP oil treatment was once raved about by Andy Granatelli. You say what your sponsors tell you to say or you don't get the pay.
