Custom Exhaust Question

Ok i need some advice good or bad is fine. Im thinkin about getting the turbo xs down pipe and going to a muffler shop and getting pipe made 3' as straight as they can make it then weld on a can (nothing ghetto something nice)...Would this be stupid? I told my friends and they were sayin it would be stupid and sound like a civic and the hp gain would not be anything compared to a cat-back system.
Does any1 on this site have this done? Or should i just save up and get the turbo back system?
Thanks
Eric

Or to keep from being a gross polluter, keep it or get a high-flow cat. Plenty of threads discussing brands and sources for them.

Just make sure they use mandrel bends. You don't want a press bent system holding you back. Also 99% of muffler shops use pressbent systems.
