Could it be the stock box's air filter is really dirty? Though I don't think that should be a problem... speaking of which, I need to replace my stock air filter soon.

No, the filter is brand new. I think I have isolated the leak. I will post up the details a little later.

Problem solved. Fixed a hairline fracture in the box... long story. Also, the air scoop was sitting flush with the hood, so it wasnt getting enough air at high RPM. That also has been fixed. It pulls like a girl giving her first handjob. Best of all, the MAF reading is very consistant. Thanks for all the help guys. Except the guys who just posted about the HKS RS kit. Contribute or don't, I could care less if you think one intake is better than another.

Holy crap, Sadly enough I Just recalled hearing about someone who had a similar problem because his plastic "retainers" were missing on his intake scoop and it would flop up and cut off airflow.. Though his symptoms were different, the car fell on its face..

Its nice to see simple fixes to fix what seems to be a complicated problem..

FWIW when the stock airbox works, its good for 350 or more WHP..

yeap, i was just about to add, that was lilevo that you are talking about, he didnt have either of his lil' plastic screws, and at high rpms it would fall flat on its face because the suction tube was "suctioning" to the hood. I have heard of this happening a few times

Gotta love it.. My airbox has been gone for a long time so I've never experienced the pleasure of that happening. Trust me, if I had my airbox, I'd be using it..

well - now i gotta check it out on mine. i do not have the plastic retainers on mine. if that is causing the problems i am going to punish myself by driving my brothers 1991 sentra for a month.

i hope it is and hope it isnt all at the same time.
