Bigger Turbo

Hey just curious what everyone in here considered to be the best turbo kit available for the evo. Nothing over 500whp price and reliability definitely considered.

All depends on your goal.

Check into ATPs kits. They seem to have something for everyone.

ATP 3071 is best IMHO.

BR has some new kits out that look very tempting as well

I'm acutally very familiar with ATP, I currently own a VW GTI with heavy modification in the line of APR Stage 3 and much more. But ATP does not that great of a rep in the VW aftermarket, they are considered a cheap "custom" alternative. Meaning if you are ok doing some custom fab and tuning than it is ok. What kind of whp are you putting down and any tranny issues related. Also when does boost start and hit full boost with that turbo.

And just because that you have APR kit which cost $5000 and was made by borola and the turbo by ATP I guess you did not know that. . ATP is cheaper but they are the makers for many many parts we see on the market. APR are great but they are = to WORKS. to much $ and low HP

GT30R (aka HKS 3037) from ATP, AMS or RnR to name a few! this kit will hit 500bhp on all but the big 2.4 4G64/EVO hybrids! reliable and track proven. one of the favorates in the UK and Japan and its clear why! happy at 1.5 bar as it is at 2+bar and just as efficent at both.

just my thoughts but there you go.

thanks Chris.

PS. for more than 500bhp i would go for the GT3235 (aka HKS 3240) good for strockers & 2.0ltr. Norris Design is currently running his at 800bhp! which is nice!

speaking of turbos... i am wondering... if we ( evo owners ) happen to purchase the turbo off an evo MR... i can imagine you can find those somewhere... would those still be under warrenty cause it is a mitsu product.... just asking cuase iw ould really like to get the MR turbo since it does spool up faster. and is SLIGHTLY larger...

Negative.. MR turbo will spool slower.. but it is bigger.. it is the same turbo (partnumber) as the evo 5 and evo 6 TM edition.
