Gains from Greddy Ti?
Gains from Greddy Ti?
Hey,
Have been looking for the right exhaust for months now, and I'm really impressed by the Greddy Titanium Racing exhaust. I did a search but I couldn't find anything concrete citing power gains. If anyone has any information that may influence my decision to purchase this exhaust (especially power gains/dyno) please post.
Also was wondering if you all could suggest a good downpipe and test pipe. From my searches on the board I am leaning towards the Helix cat delete and Megan racing Dp. I question Megan's customer service and quality assurance somewhat from others' experiences, but their price and performance seems good. I also need to be able to bolt the stock cat back on should it become necessary
Please let me know what you think.

If you're going to get the greddy Ti cat-back, I would suggest you get a helix downpipe and test pipe to match it. The helix quality is pretty good and it should match the greddy quality. The Megan quality looks a step down from helix.
from what i hear, you lose a bit of power down low with the greddy b/c the exhuast piping is over 3 inches. its like 3.15 or something. However, IMO, its incredible looks more than compensates for that, and it may even be beneficial if you were to eventually upgrade your turbo.
If you go with the Megan, make sure to put more of a bend in the middle of it. I was having some rattling issues, then I took it off and used my foot at the flex section while pulling at both ends and the problem was solved. Basically, try to make it more of a U than an L. Someone posted putting a crowbar in betwween the oil pan /D.P. and that's where I got the idea. Who cares what D.P. you have. No one is going to see it.
I also have U.R. 3" cat and Greddy full titanium. Loud, but powerful. Forget the silencer. It's like 2" in diameter and I feel like it defeats the purpose of freeing up your exhaust to 3".

Okay thanks for all the replies. Sounds like Megan is nixed then, and I should go with the Helix DP and test pipe.
I have two more concerns with the greddy system: fitment and sound. I hear that although it is loud, it sounds great, but I am still a little worried about getting pulled over for it or being overly obnoxious. I also hear that the greddy is a little short for the 8. ANy info on this?
BTW- Lowness- the greddy does taper down to meet the stock cat, but it tapers down to 3". The main parts of the cat back are 80 mm, which I believe translates to 3.15 ", so you don't lose anything performance-wise there.
Thanks again!

I love my greddy ti exhaust. its only loud after adding my test pipe. A couple of friends and i went to the vishnu dyno day in colorado. With the same setup as my friend, just different parts, i have over 30 horse more than him. my setup is hks rs intake, hks dp, invidia test pipe and greddy ti. his is k&n intake, helix dp, invidia test pipe, and hks carbon-ti. like i said, 30 more wheel horse. plus the greddy exhaust weights ten pounds.
The only issue is since it doesn't stick out far ehough you'll need to get some sort of bumper guard. it gets pretty dirty, but so does the hks. it can get pretty nasty on a white evo. since i got the lancershop bumper guard i've had no problem.

30 whp difference with just the exhaust, filter, and DP is pretty crazy. I guess I should hope that the greddy gave most of that power since I have the K&N and plan on getting the helix DP, lol. HKS is nice, but very expensive and doesn't seem worth it. By the way, if anyone has any dyno sheets with the greddy I would still be very interested.

I have to admit, if I would have known that I would have had to go through all that crap w/ the Megan DP, I to would have gone with another brand. But everything is butter now. It took all of 5 seconds to fix the flex section misalignment.
I liked the HKS DP, but it's only 2.5 inches. I would have thought the 3 in. Helix DP would be better for flow and increase HP. Why would that DP make a 30 whp difference!?
i don't know. hks knows their business though. its interesting since the hks dp is smaller diameter then the helix but the real question is the interior of the dp. another bonus of the greddy is if you install it yourself(easy) then you won't get tired holding it up to installl.
