Exedy Single or ACT 2100
Exedy Single or ACT 2100
Ok I need to know which I should buy,
I have heard that the exedy clutches have had some issues and that if installed wrong will fail.
I am sending my tranny to Sheppard to be rebuilt since I am sick of mitsu (SATAN) screwing me over about second gear. So i dont want anything to happen to my nice new tranny due to a clutch failure.
I am also getting a flywheel if I get the act so the price I believe will be about the same for either setup.
Where can I get the exedy single, I cant find anyone online that advertises their price. and they must be instock for me to order.
Thanks guys

I had one on my DSM as well and never had any issues. I have however heard of issues with both the ACT and the EXedy clutches. I know of one person that is going back to the exedy though.
Also I heard that its easy to screw up the install of an Exedy. So I just have no idea of which to choose.
i wouldn't say i had any "issues" with the 2100, the pressure plate just isn't strong enough to get the car out of the hole on a hard launch. i burn up the clutch everytime i try to launch the car. the 2100 is just too weak for any awd car running 13's or faster. it was great when my car was almost stock, but then again my car makes 70 hp less than you guys when it's stock.

From what I understand the 2100 kit for the evo will hold 450 hp so I dont know. I know a guy here that is switching back to the Exedy from the ACT.

GUYS I dont know how hard this is to understand but the 2100 and 2600 are DSM ratings. The EVO is rated at 2900 as previously stated. Your confusing alot of people by throwing around all these false terms.

From what I understand the kit is called the 2100, it has the 2900 lb pressure plate and is rated somewhere around 450hp
Steve, every car is different. With DSMs, some people had problems with the ACT, I had 0 problems with a 2600 in my GS-t. Beat the car for about 2 years with the 2600 and had no problems. You can't assume everyone is gonna have the same problem as the next guy.
I've read comments about the EXEDY messing up the transfer case. I haven't researched it, but I wouldn't steer away from the EXEDY cause 1,2,3 or 4 out of hundreds had problems. Know what I mean? I can't afford an EXEDY, so I'm going with an ACT for my EVO.
Another example, I had a probems with the Helix Dp rubbing under the car. I'll never buy a Helix product, but it doesn't mean it won't work for the next guy.
My $0.02
