Um... good luck. It will be a very very expensive project that in the end won't even be worth it. It is just way too involved of a project. It would be nice if it were plug and play

Are you saying you've already done the research and the project is not plug-and-play? Do you know what things have to be built? Is it a matter of only electronics, or a matter of mechanics, or both?
My first gut feeling is the 5 spd. trannies are different.

P.S. FWIW, This is not directly towards zstryder, but I'm having better luck getting more 'intelligent' answers on svrider.com, which until the 1000cc model came out, was geared towards a little, inexpensive, 650 V-Twin motorbike.

I don't know the specifics, but this is what I have read and gathered over the past year when people have asked this question.
First things first - the trannies are different. I'm don't believe they'll be an easy bolt on, but don't take my word on that. Secondly - the US Evo uses a unique transfer case compared to the rest of the world. Getting something that will fit our cars will be a challenge in itself. I have heard rumors that the reason our t-case is slightly different than ones found elsewhere in the world is because of crash regulations. Something about the standard diffs busting up through the bottom of the car into the cabin (hell if I know). That's just a rumor though.
Additionally, both ACD/AYC have their own electronics and sensors. They work together. Or, if you have a car equipped with only AYC (Evo4-6) or maybe ACD only (Evo7 RS), those have specific setups as well. The mechanical portion is very different - even if you could get them to bolt in, it's not a plug and play solution. I'm sure with enough research, time, and dedication it would be possible, but with enough time and money anything is possible. In the end it's whether the money you spend in trying to obtain these parts in the first place, and then somehow getting them to fit in our USDM cars, is worth the gain you might see with these devices. And unless you plan to be tracking your car or can push your car close to the limits, I don't think the average Evo driver will ever be able to tell the difference.

Thank you both, a lot. The answers are very concise and well-written. Actually, aside from the electronic goodies, I suppose my top requirement is an x-fer case that won't blow-up at 'stock' power levels when my clutch toasts and I acutally buy a decent clutch.
I wonder what the most 'sensible' solution is going to be? Cryo-treat the internals? Send it back for a refitment of 'better' hardware? Wait for an aftermarket solution? I'd be happy even to get some 'fitment' parts and get a hold of a hydralic press and do some of the work myself. Given some time and some really good instructions, some mechanical things really are quite straightforward to put together.

Other food for thought is that there has not been substantial proof that ACD will help a proper racing setup (JIC coilovers tuned properly, etc). I am not 100% sure, but I doubt that many Evo race cars use ACD, and I am sure there is a reason for it.

I've been thinking - maybe ACD by itself is not a big deal - but I think when ACD works with SAYC, it does wonders. With a ACD/SAYC setup, I think would be a huge difference compared to a ACD only setup.
