Clutch is going....need a new one. Suggestions?

My clutch is starting to slip at about 13K miles and I know I will need to get one soon. What are the people here buying? I will probably want to end up at about 450-550 hp after my other upgrades, so I want something that will stand the power but not be overkill on strength and price.

Somewhere I had seen the ACT Stage 2 Kit for $475 but I cannot remember. Is that a good price? What do you guys recommend?

Exedy Hyper Single...that will do the trick...I'm planning on getting the Exedy/Cusco Carbon Twin Plate when my stock clutch goes...then it's on to the BIG POWER!!!

I have the cusco twin disk and couldn't be happier. The pedal pressure the lighter than stock with 4x the holding power. Its actually EASIER to drive than the stock unit. The only draw back I can find is that it alittle noisey when its not engaged when its cold.

ATS double or triple carbon all the way! They eliminate the throw out bearing, converts it to a push type clutch (all hadrware comes with clutch) and last forever. I'm running ~510whp and it has never slipped, and it's very easy to modulate in traffic. I've had mine on since March, put on 4K miles, drove it from Michigan to PA several times, not one single problem. Yes it's more expensive than other clutches but it will cost you less in the long run...

Directly from Boost Solutions website and ATS website...
ATS Clutches!!!Why?
- Super shift response - The weight of ATS carbon friction disk is only 400g. It is exceptionally light
- Super heat-resistance - Designed to resist over 2,000 degrees Centigrade (3,650 degrees Fahrenheit)(Twice than metallic disks)
- Super deformation-resistance - The deformation is 1/10 of iron. You always get a smooth & crisp engagement
- Super easy operation - Operating ATS clutch is very easy, even when driving up a slope and in a traffic congestion
- Super power transfer - 10% to 30% higher transfer capacity than the metal clutch
- Super durability - Due to the various favorable characteristics of carbon, the clutch has a very long life
- All ATS clutches are push clutches
- All ATS Carbon clutches are almost twice lighter than the regular twin and triple clutches

I love my ATS aswell, holds great and easy to modulate in traffic. I got the twin , it is more noisy than your normal twin disk. But it is worth it all the way .

ATS....you guys are crazy....unless you track your car ALL the time, this clutch is not necessary....put it this way, Turbotrix..THE FASTEST in all the land is using a ACT single clutch plate. I am concerned about my tcase so I think I might go with RnR's no name clutch or clutch X...they use it on their 500 awhp RACE evo and it looks just like stock.

Thats just my 0.02$

I have a brand new exedy hyper single plate clutch if you are interested. I will have to sell evo so no need for clutch. I will probably take a loss on the sale price. I'm willing to sell for a decent price.

Stock clutch all the way!! J/K lol

I'm still on my stock clutch with 18K miles. But, when it gives out one day, I would go for the Cusco or Exedy twin plate, they are pricey enough for me .
I like the ATS carbon series but it's hard enough to deal with the cost of other twin plates as is.

I can't give you a specific brand, but my advice is to CHOOSE YOUR CLUTCH WISELY.

I bought my evo used and the previous owner already had installed some kind of harsh engaging racing clutch in it.

It is hard to take off from a dead stop, the car shudders and feels like its gonna stall, hard to modulate the clutch in traffic and especially from a dead stop on hills. My uncle took my car out for a test drive and he stalled twice.

but otherwise the clutch bites hard and doesn't slip at all when you get things going.

Why take the chances? if your going for 550hp than go for a good clutch..
I have the OS Giken Twin Disk push type conversion and it still holds like a champ after 13000+ miles of track, racing and daily driving
ATS is also great... go for the ATS
