Question Peformance Question on a CEL. PLease advise.

Any help or answers to the following question are encouraged and appreciated.

Can a CEL that is currently on, make a difference in showing hp to the wheel?

Let me clarify. 3 Evo's have all the same modifications. Intake, dp, cat-delete, exhaust, and Vishnu x-flash.

All three Evo's were x-flashed and dyno'd on the same dyno machine. 2 of the Evo's had 330+ whp and one had 300 whp. The two Evo's had no CEL and the other one did.

Therefore, can a CEL make a difference in hp...if not, any suggestions on what could cause a 30 whp difference?

Thank you very much for your help.

Depends on what is triggering the CEL. What is the code?

it is being triggered by the fact that I do not have a catalytic converter.

A cat-less CEL won't decrease performance. All that o2 sensor (bank 1 sensor 2 on a logger) is doing is verifying that the cat is working. If the upstream o2 sensor (bank 1 sensor 1 on a logger) is dead, you will be running an overly rich map from the ECU for safety, and that would affect performance.

what did the a/f ratios look like on all 3 cars? that could point you in the right direction.

The a/f ratios were all different. I ran rich but so did the guy with the most whp. THe other Evo that ran 332whp ran a lot leaner. So the a/f ratios had no impact.

I know....weird isn't it? I just can't seem to place my finger on where my loss in power is. If you have 3 cars with the same mods and the same x-flash....they should all be in the same range of whp (give or take a few hp) ......not 30 whp difference."?"
