Angry Clutch is gone!!!

Well last night at the track after the second run my stock clutch is gone. First run was bad and second run did it. Almost didn't make it home. Time for ACT or Exedy Twin. Still debating.

Anyone know who's got the best price for either of these clutches?

Thks.

Thks.
Go with RPS clutch. It has EXedy disc and RPS presure plate. It has same clamping force as stock and it is around $650 at Boost Solutions. The ACT has twice clamping force as stock which can damage the transfer case. The exedy twin has same clamping force as stock but cost double the price of the RPS. I am getting RPS. If you want more information about clucth call Boost Solutions and ask for George or Doug.

My 2cents

Peace,
Snoop

Thanks for the help. Anyone with the ACT clutch broken the TC or anything yet?

Been to the track twice with total of 4 runs. About 3 runs on the street. Stock clutch seems to be okay if you baby it and with stock power.

BR can install your clutch if you can get there.. I am probably going up there late this fall. They recommend Exedy twin which is around 1300 I believe. The RPS stuff mentioned above sounds nice too!

ACT is 2900 clamping....stock is somewhere around 2100-2300 i believe. ACT is very similar to stock pedal feel and take up as well as engagement. No extra abuse on tranny , transfer case or anything...if you dump any clutch you will /could brake something. Just slip it out real fast....it will spin all 4 tires with the act ....1.7 60fts all day long and i drive the car daily. Awesome setup especially for under $600 total with throwout bearing.... Up to you though...DSM's have been using act's for years....including john shepard. Plus you are only loosing around 4 or 5 lbs off the flywheel since the evo one stock only weighs 13 lbs (ish) and the exedy is 8 or so...

Thanks for the help guys. I decided to the get the ACT and use the stock flywheel. Will let everyone know how it is once the clutch is in. I'm in Chicago suburbs so the car is not going to make it to Ohio. It's either AMS or a friend of a friend will be doing the clutch.

Might want to talk to people who have used a light weight flywheel before you do the install... everyone I have talked to (with most of the bolt on upgrades) swears it might be the best bang for the buck. I've driven one, and it has convinced me to just for the spool.
