INJEN Pipe Kit With Pics
Got mine today, I'm going to put it in tomorrow morning, gave myself like 5 hours before work. I wonder, do I need to take off the front bumber? Is it easyer with it off, or can it only be done with it off? The instructions included with the intake show it off, but say nowhere in them to remove it.
Also, I here that it's easy but, how long did it take those of you who have it to install it? I plan on doing it myself, but the most I've ever worked on a car was changing oil in a 92 civic. Hope someone replys to me soon, because I'm going to check up on here once tomorrow morning, and then get working on it. I guess I'll know if I have to take the bumber off if it doesn't work, but it'd be nice to know everything beforehand.

It took me almost 3 hours from start to finish for the Injen kit. Majority of the time consumption was in adjusting up on engine bay and getting back under the car. I might have taken a little long but I just wanted to be sure everything was on tight and didn't fall apart later.
I think the job will take you longer then 1 hour. You'll probably spend almost an hour taking out the stock stuff then at least 30 minutes to an hour playing with your stock intake box and maf screws. Then 1 hour putting your air filter and piping in and adjusting to fit correctly. It wasn't hard, just took some time. I've been a mechanic and auto body guy for probably 15 years and I felt it's an intermediate level install. Have fun!
I'm in the middle of it right now, just taking a break. Everything was going fine until it came to take off the stock intake. The screw for the clamp I was completely unable to reach. Went in from the bottom of the car, the top, the side. Too much stuff in the way. Finally I got some shears, and just cut the intake piping off from the turbo, and slid the wire clamp off. Took me a while, and it was taking so long I decided to call in sick from work, but I'm rolling now. The IC piping is done, just have one more alignment check, and then start on the intake, put the black tray back on, and I'm done. Will post back soon.
Ok, so I'm done. The injen peices fit perfect, the most part was getting the stock off. It was also easyer to get it all in, because I new what went where, and what did what on the way out. Test drive one: sounded good for a second, but my dumbass didn't tighten the bracket from the blow off valve to the intercooler piping, stalled it out a block from my house. The bov came off, brought it back and retightened it. Disconnected the negative teminal of the battary again.Test drive two: It's all good this time, except the check engine light doesn't turn off. Seemed to respond a little better in the low end, but it could be all in my head. I really cant tell if there is an all around difference. The sucking noise, as well as the blow off are alot louder then I thought it would be, But I like it. Wouldn't mind it being a little quieter but all well. In about a 10 minute time, it was all fine, but I was getting on it once, and it just dived out, like one bog, and then was fine after that. Like I said, I the only thing I've ever done in the engine of a car is changing oil in a 92 civic. It was pretty easy, and straightforward. Took me 6 hours, but most of that was just getting the stock pipings out. Especially the intake pipe. Probably longer then most, but hey, I'm new.
So, how do I get the check engine light to turn off?

Took about 3 hours for me. I just took off the first half of plastic screws on the undertray on the drivers side to get everything off. The most difficult part was following the instructions, they don't really tell you how to do the installation so I went with common sense.
I ended up with 2 extra hose clamps and 1 coupler. Only place I could see this possibly fitting is the intercooler end tank to lower pipe, but it showed the stock coupler there so I re-used it.
The fit is pretty good, the turbo pipe seems to be touching the radiator hose slightly so I may try to re-adjust. The intake sounds great and feels great up top, it finally breathes well at 7500. Great product for the price, the pipes could be a bit smoother on the finish but still not too bad.

Two things you should look at...First make sure you disconnect your negative terminal and leave it off for a couple of minutes. That should reset the ecu properly. The second thing is to make sure that your MAF sensor is clean and not contaminated by mishandling or whatnot (oil from your hands can dirty the sensor and cause the ecu to read it incorrectly throwing a check engine light). Also, make sure that the MAF is properly installed. Try these things first before you take it in. We have it installed on our EVO along with everything else and we have no check engine light. If you need more details on how to clean your MAF, pm me or drop me an email.
