Please help....

I'm very confused now after reading some threads the past few days. I was just about ready to start modding my car, and then today I read the "intake stalling" thread.

So, is the bottom line that "ANY aftermarket intake will make the car stall out?" And, is the HKS EIDS the only cure?

I'm super confused, so any help would be great. I was so close to ordering the HKS RS intake kit too.....

To those that have been there, done that....Do you recommend I just keep the stock intake box and drop in a K&N filter instead of replacing the whole intake?

unless you plan on some tuning, just stick with the stock air intake box with a drop in. a cone filter causing some turbulent air to pass through the MAF confusing the signal to the ECU and may cause some lean conditions. i personally have the buschur cone filter but i had my car tuned by DYNOFLASH and he tuned around it. but then again there are plenty of people using cone like type filters. i never really trusted foam filters like the HKS, but that is just my preference.

No, it's not true. I had the Buschur intake on my car for about a 1000 miles before my tune. No issues. NEVER stalled. Stalling is usually from BOV that are set to VTA; and the K&N Typhoon (from what I've been told). Seen plenty of HKS RS intakes (before tune) no stalling. Same with RMR.

Get the intake you want; but tune for it as soon as you can. The sound change is kinda hard to get used to though. Makes the stock BOV and intake very loud.

Good luck!

Another option I considered was ordering the HKS intake pipe with the Apex'i Power Flow cone intake from boost solutions like another member on this board suggested. I assume that this would still cause the same problem?

If I sent my ECU off to someone, then they could tune it according to my mods? I just may do that then.....

jab, do you have the whole Buschur intake, or just the filter element? I noticed they sell the seperately on their website. How loud is that? I like the way aftermarket intakes sound.

I just have the BR intake filter. It's as loud as most VTA BOVs. You'd be surprised just how loud it makes the BOV.
