Is the HKS RS suction intake suppose to make a loud whistle sound and get louder as boost gets higher..... I never heard one before and just put mine on my car and finally got my Bushur intercooler on...

It shouldn't "whistle" it's more of a "turbine eating a big inch V-8" sound.

wow lots of weird sounding sounds.. i have a aem sri no whistling sound you possably have a boost leak check ur clamps make sure they are tight. you should hear the whurl of the turbo and the pshhh of the blow off.. other then that i duno.. hope this helps.

 

you are just able to hear the spool up and blow off better. it whistles.

 

I hear the blow off valve when I let off the gas.. It holds boost no leak. I will try to put up a sound clip after work today....

 

Exactly...spool up is loud as hell with the HKS RS intake...it scared the crap outta me the first time I went into boost after installing the intake...I thought I had a boost leak or something...

 

I think what you are hearing is the spoolup. It's like a high-pitched whooshing sound of air rushing. I believe that is the whistling sound you are describing of spoolup esp. since you said it gets louder as boost increases.

Put a freakin grin on my face the first time I heard it...

BTW: Where did you eventually get it from? I remembered that you PM'd me once about it.

Yup...that sucker is spinning up to over 120,000 RPM...that tends to make a bit of noise...

 

yep the sound of the turbo spooling up is awesome.
