Turbo kits vs (18G or 20G)

What do you think about Mitsu 18G or 20G ? I mean, its alot cheaper than a new kit.

Will they replace the stock turbo with out any modefication??

How about the spool up time and the lag for both ( 18G and 20G )?

DSM guys can really help me with this

Thanks

i actually prefer a 20g upgrade for a simple "bolt on" performance upgrade... i know the GT series turbos are more efficient and your numbers WILL be higher... but in all honesty, i'm looking to keep it very moderate... i want to have fun in my car, not worry about blowing it up at every intersection..

Thats exactly what i want. I'm not trying to break a record. Mid to low 12s is my goal
So have you tried the 20G? how is the lag?

mid to low 12 on an EVO can be easily reached. Just get stage 1+ . cams, camgears, tune, full cat back and you are set, hell you will run 12.1.

The Evo turbo is a Twin Scroll, and its oriented opposite to the DSM, so the turbos likely will not bolt on in any sense of the word.. You might see some hybrids at some point in the future, but the evo turbo also rotates in the reverse direction which means all the scroll housings, impellers, and compressor wheels are "mirror images" of what a DSM has.

Actually, a more efficient turbo will put LESS stress on the engine at the same boost level...

isnt it t67/25g and its laggy... i drove an evo with this kit and didnt like it
but a 20g has real good spoolup and great for an easy 11.7@ around 120-121mph driver and mod dependant

If you want to bolt on a DSM-type turbo, you can get the buschur turbo kit's exhaust manifold. Then you can bolt up any turbo that works on a DSM. You'll probably need a custom o2 housing if you want to run an external wastegate though.

If your goal is to run mid to low 12s, the stock turbo will suite you fine. Just get a full turbo back, cams, MBC, and ECU flash.

So do 95% of all the turbos used in aftermarket EVO turbo kits.

Why would you want a dsm turbo for an evo. All kinds of testing has been done and was designed specifically for the performance for the evo.
