I would not say that it's a bad synchro. A synchro works by gradually speeding up or slowing down the gears to meet the speed of the existing dog ring/ shaft assy. By speed shifting or power shifting you are not giving the synchro sufficient time to change the speed of the shaft assy and forcing the dog ring to grind into place.

Basically if you are slammin gears they are going to grind. I recommend shifting a little slower (at WOT) and you shouldn't see grinding. If shifting slower is not acceptable, I'd recommend getting a dog box.

I didn't click those links so pardon me if I am redundant, but you need to adjust your clutch pedal. Get under the pedal and loosen the 12 mm nut and then put slight pressure on your pedal and turn the rod so that there is less thread showing in the pedal holder (I am sure my terminology is wrong). But don't turn the rod much! It only takes like one or two full turns.

This will allow your pedal to engage your clutch sooner so that you can shift faster without hitting the synchros. This completely cured my grind I had in EVERY gear when shifting fast.

edit: oh i clicked the links and I see someone is just a smartass.

To shift slower is to loose speed on the track... how are guys racing through gears and not grinding?

that's fine, then power shift and frap your trans because you "don't want to loose speed at the track". Just don't come whining to mitsubishi when the trans goes after 10,000mi. These are performance cars, NOT race cars. I can't even power shift my rally car without grinding, so guess what, I DON'T. An extra 10th or quarter of a second per shift is not worth the price of a new transmission.

Just adjust the pedal and you can shift as fast as you want.

adjusting the clutch will only correct the problem if you are moving the lever before the clutch is fully engaged, or by letting the clutch out before you are finished moving the stick. This would be driver error (not clutching in time with the hand motion).

also adjusting the clutch will change the pickup point and will cause premature wear and slippage if you go too far.

That's wrong. Adjusting the pedal allows the clutch to be pushed in sooner. This gives the synchros more time to do what they do. So the time you need to wait to shift is less. This works. I had the problem in every gear and it is totally gone. If you adjust the clutch improperly it will cause premature wear. So what? If you drive fast you'll get bad mileage. Don't do it wrong. Duh.
