Titanium Turbine?

Now i know that certain JDM models of the evo (i believe the 6&7) came with titanium turbines in their turbos. Is the USDM evo 8 equipped with one too? And if not, what is a good mitsu turbo to upgrade to?

Tomi Makinen Evo 6.5 I believe was the only one with the 10.5 housing and Titanium turbine center.

To your second question I would do a search there are a boat load of upgradable turbo's depends on what you want out of it.

There was also the TD05HRA-16G6-9.6t and the TD05HRA-16G6-10.5t Both are titanium turbine'd turbos.

I don't recall what model these turbos were equippen in, but I'm fairly certain they turned up in the Evo6 RS and Evo7 RS2

They were different than the TME Evo 6.5 which had a slightly different compressor wheel.

The 9.6 is basically the same housing our Evo8 gets so a Titanium version would spool a little lower, the 10.5 housing spools a little later than the stock Evo8 turbo, but with other minor mods, the power curve before the turbo spools, and overall drivability is the same, if not improved.

You can purchase a complete turbo from www.forcedperformance.com with the 10.5 housing, Or you can get the hot side housing and upgrade your stock turbo (Obviously you wouldn't benefit from the titanium components however) So far, used in conjunction with an aftermarket stainless exhaust manifold (or a ported stock manifold), and Stainless O2 housing (or ported stock housing) the gains are worth noting, especially for the cost of the components if you search around for deals.

There's several threads posted on this, search titanium turbo, or the turbo's part # and you should get a half dozen hits.

I just got an imported new Mitsu TD05HRA-16G6-10.5T (it arrives tomorrow). That turbo was in the Evo 6 RS and Evo 6 Tommi Makinen RS. The Evo 6 Tommi Makinen GSR is a TD05RA-15GK2-10.5T with a 3mm smaller compressor wheel. Notice the 15G denotation instead of 16G.

FWIW, the RS models overseas always had the hotter performance parts. The regular GSR was a 16G, but didn't have the titanium center section. I believe the TD05HRA-16G6-10.5T is the turbo to have.
