Question Quad Throttle Body

Does anyone know if there are any evos with quad throttle bodies? Are there any advantages to doing this on a turbo car? I am just curious. I have searched the forums, but I only find references to the non-evo lancers.

those dont work for forced induction. the boost wouldnt be able to be evenly distributed to all the cylinders.

Not really true .. FYI Skyline GT-Rs have been using individual throttle bodies from the beginning .. only difference compared to conventional is there is also a manifold
actually I believe the boost is even more evenly distributed than single throttle body..

ive never seen individual throttle boddies put together with a manifold. i guess that would work really well.

The Nissan SR20DET in the Sunny (Pulsar) GTI-R uses quad throttle bodies... has since the early 90's.

i want to revive this thread. (i know this is the EVO section)

what is the likelyhood of this working on a Lancer?

i want to pick up RPW's quad throttle body along with AEM EMS (along with the necessary fuel mods, cam, etc)...i have seen manifolds fabricated on other cars to work in conjunction with QTBs. do you think this would work well on the 4g94? or am i wasting my time? i plan on boosting once the set-up is complete.

Yes it would work perfectly fine.

The biggest reason people do it is for throttle response. There is much less of a lag for the air to go just down the runner than it is to fill the plenum and go down each runner.

The other reason individual throttle bodies are nice is to create the least amount of restriction possible.

I dont think it is worth the money, time, and fabrication head aches to make this work though. People have great success without doing it and usually the only people that do it are road race people that have large budgets.

thanks

i know it is costly but keep in mind i don't drive an EVO. my goal is to beat Omar's 300whp mark by 75whp i'm just working on getting deeper pockets. i'm tired of reading about the conventional ported single TB's and such. i want to do something new.

I work at a shop in Japan and we have worked alot on the RB26 and anything over 600 hp is running a single throttle. I think you would be better off getting a plenum with a bigger single throttle.

Like Ted B posted, I don't believe the advantages are there like they are in a NA motor. However, I think I know of a guy that makes these, in case anyone is interested
