Throwout bearing noise related to clutch failure
Throwout bearing noise related to clutch failure
I have an EVO with 16.7k miles and in the last couple of months the throwout bearing has been making excessive noise at times. Usually more noticeable when the foot is off the clutch pedal. I know that this is a common problem. But what I would like to know is if this is a sign for clutch failure. My pedal engagement height is pretty high. The clutch is not slipping or having any ill effects. I just want to know how much time I might have left.
So if you have had your clutch go, what were your symptoms?

Mine has been making that knocking noise for about 3,000 miles. Some people think that it is the spring in the disc that makes that noise and not the throwout bearing. BTW, my clutch is holding fine. Just noisy when I am in neutral with my foot off the pedal.

mine has had that noise since the day I bought it, glad to see its not just mine. I took it back to dealer and they said they all do it and will not replace TOB for that. They said it will still do it even if they put in a new one.
