Ahhh remember the JDM kit from Deck doesn't require block work for rod clearance or any deck machine work, just cylinder preps.

Toba needs machine work to fit. They haven't been making parts for the EVO very long mostly Honda parts. Plus as mentioned their kit uses OEM rods and crank.

How fast can one of these stroker bottom ends safely spin? ARP rod bolts? I spend alot of time at the track bouncing off the rev limiter.

Jack's right. You're core charge is so low I would have saved myself the trouble and just planned on keeping my core instead of buying a used short block!

Yeah, unfortunately I can't pull out of my short-block deal.. It should be delivered in the next day or so.. so we'll see what happens.. Maybe i'll just add it to my collection of parts I've been hoarding..

longer stroke = higher piston speed, too high of a piston speed &you will lose longetivity of the motor

Yes, exactly the point of my question. How fast is too fast for these stroker kits?

Integra GSR has a rod ratio of 1.52-3 and rev's to 8k+, the evo stroked will be fine.

This particular kit, the Toda, I think will be safe to 7500 rpm, I wouldn't go any higher.

After putting this kit together and looking at things I like and don't about it, I decided to go ahead and have some parts built for doing it a little differently.

First off the crank, as we all know is a stock Mitsu piece. The rods in this kit are stock, they look like they will be fine as I say, up to about 7500 rpm.

The pistons in the kit are also nice but I want to do them differently.

I ordered 32 custom pistons on Friday and have rods here to do these engines. I will be offering this in kit form for you do-it your self guys and think that once the parts come in we should have a killer stroker kit that will run a good 9,000 rpm too.

Did a bunch of talking with the machine shop and piston company about doing this and found many things that we should have done differently back 6-7 years ago.

It is going to be interesting to see.

So how does this work exactly? U send us the built engine, and we send you back our stock engine? Im a little confuse.

This sounds extremely awesome!!! Wondering how all this will turn out. Sweet....

Definitely interested in this "new kit" you want to offer, especially as a do-it-yourselfer.. I really need to take some affordable paths but durable..

I've been doing some thinking about stroking the EVO: 1st using the 3.93" stroke crank (2.4L) @ 7500 RPM you would have a piston speed of 4912.5 fpm not too unsafe ("safe" usually is considered 4000 fpm) if the stock rods are used then this would change overall rod anularity slightly this would decrease dwell time and lower the VE slightly but, on the plus side this is going to increase low end torque. Being that the change in rod anularity is not great premature cylinder out fo round shouldn't be a problem unless you do alot of high RPM driving (As for bryans2k's comment I'm not saying your wrong just that the VTEC compensates for the low rod ratio @ 8k)
David B what stroke, bore, and rod length will you be using for the 9k RPM short block (just curious) also will you be using a stock head w/ that?
