EGT probe location with stainless manifold

I am going to install either a dnp or ssautochrome manifold. my question is, for those of you that have done this, where are you placing the egt probe. i have my probe located in the #2 runner on my stock manifold.

thanks

I had my downpipe tapped and installed the probe there. I was a bit concerned about putting the probe in the exhaust manifold or the number 3 cylinder. If the probe breaks (highly unlikely, but has happened), if it's at teh downpipe, it will just shoot out the muffler. Think about where it may go if you tap the manifold or #3 cylinder....EEK!!

isnt that not accurate if its in the downpipe? cause it would technically be cooler there?

well you could still tell if things were running abnormally hot under prolonged high boost. plus in my case, where i have had it in the manifold i could quickly compare the new readings to the old ones. thus getting an accurate baseline for future comparison.

I believe you are supposed to put it in the leanest runner... meaning furthest from the intake path. (cyl 1?)

I wouldn't put it in the dp (tho I know you can) if you are lookig for absolute #'s.
