I get a Service engine light about once a week now with my new Buschur 3" turbo back exhaust with High flow cat and magnaflow muffler. I was thinking that maybe if I wrap my downpipe with some thermal wrap or something that this would help heat up the cat faster and increase the exhaust gas velocity kinda like ceramic coating does. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

 

I think it's unlikely that would help. Maybe you could run an O2 sim after the cat? I didn't think that the Buschur cat caused the CEL that often. Your cat must be going bad or maybe something else is actually setting the light. Have you scanned the trouble code?

 

Take your car to AutoZone (if you have one) and they will scan the car for free and let you know what code is being thrown. Then get back to us.

 

i get the samething with the random hiflo cat. po420
only thing is mine does it every now and then. not every week

 

there are so many things that could cause that , but after the code is checked you should do an exhaust sim. ,are you using race gas ?that could def. register SES light

 

It has been confirmed that it is a PO420 code. I only use pump gas 93 octane. I'm just waiting to hear back from Buschur. I know they have a NO CEL policy and I hope they can give me a free simulator to fix the problem. I got the high flow cat just for this reason... i didn't want a CEL issue, not to mention i don't like polluting the environment.
