Fp Black vs HTA 3582
Has anyone done and dyno comparisons on the fp black vs the HTA3582. It would be interesting to see the results sin they both have the same compressor wheel with the the difference in turbine of 1mm smaller on the black .

Assuming the HTA3582 uses a conventional open turbine housing, the FP Black will spool considerably faster, and will deliver more power under the curve until very high power levels (e.g. 650whp+). I've seen ~750whp eeked out of an HTA3582, but with the advent of the FP Black, it seems not worth converting to a large turbo kit unless one is going to at least an HTA3586 and will wring big power levels out of it.

Teb B pretty much nailed it. look at mikes fp black record thread almost 700whp out that puppy lol so you know its good for 600-650 thats plenty of power for the majority of evo owners that want to acheive that

Black spools faster then a HTA3582R Twin Scroll?? Makes Similar Power?

The Black appears to outspool a TS HTA 3582R by about 300rpm on average, judging by where the 200whp line is crossed with respect to rpm. This is understandable, as both are TS turbos, but the Black has a smaller hotside (despite a thrust bearing center). For the same reason, the HTA3582R has a somewhat greater ultimate power potential, but that isn't apparent until way up in the power spectrum.

It may be a case of having your cake and eating it too but ideally you would have response like a black and have that power hang on all the way up to 8500 and beyond. From the graphs I have seen recently the black still appears to start losing power past 7k-7500. |
I've yet to be convinced the Red/Black are reliable as road race turbos. There have been too many failures. The Garret GT turbos are still valid for those applications.

ive been on green and red , and have had no problems
on top of that fp gives u a 1 year warranty + they can repair the turbo cause the make them |

mine is starting to fail
sending in for a rebuild to BLACK + meth on built 2.0 = BIG SMILE ON MY FACE you want quick spool + power BLACK you want not so quick spool + more power hta35 |
