Digimoto OBDII diagnostics on my Evo
Last month I put a Buschur exhaust on my car, after a month of driving it finally threw a Service Engine Soon (SES) light. I kinda knew it was the exhaust but for kicks I decided to get an OBDII scanning tool.
I looked around and found Digimoto (http://www.digimoto.com), it’s a scanning tool module that plugs into your laptop via the 9-pin serial connector. I placed an order for it on 9/1/2004 and after a minor delay I got it in the mail today (9/24/2004).
I have to say it’s a nifty little tool. I took a screen shot of the sensor grid but here’s a listing:
- Calculated load value %
- Coolant temperature deg F
- Short term fuel % trim bank 1
- Long term fuel % trim bank 1
- Engine RPM
- Vehicle speed MPH
- Timing advance deg
- Intake air temp Deg F
- MAF air flow gm/sec
- Absolute throttle sensor position
- Oxy sensor voltage bank 1 sens
- Oxy sensor voltage bank 1 sens
I chose it over other scan tools for the extra features that come with it:
- Real Time Sensor Charting
- Quarter mile stats
- Dynamometer Chart
- Real time data logging
I’ve only spent a few minutes with it and I already like it. I paid $119.95 to get it to my door. Other than the wait (like three weeks) to get it I have no complaints so far. I recommend!
P.S. yeah the code was because of the exhaust, I reset the light and cleared the codes from the software. Piece of cake!

thats awsome, i think im going to have to get me one of those. does this mean i could run a straight pipe and clear any check engine lights before i bring my car back to mitsu to do my free service/warrenty work?

yep, but keep in mind that there are places like autozone that will tell you what your codes are and clear them for free.
I paid the money to have one of my own and the extra stuff.

A datalogger and OBD II diagnostic tool is an indispensible tool for the EVO enthusiast.
I have a 300 hour datalogger.
