stock exhaust getting louder?

I noticed that my stock exhaust got a bit louder after about 600 miles. I think it sounds pretty good, kinda deep throaty sound. I want to know if it will get any louder later on?

Get a flashlight and look into the end of your muffler to see if the diversion flap is still inplace or if the spring on it is broken. As you may already know, this device is normaly closed and opens up when pressures increase with engine speed. On a side note I have modded mine with a metal vane device and it deepend the exhaust note in the lower register (what you would call bass in an audio sytem).

Exhaust notes do change over time. I donno that it'd really be noticeable on the stocker, but hey. As long as it's not crazy loud and getting you tickets, and you like it, who cares?

As for it getting louder, busted mufflers do make a ton of noise. If something has broken loose, that'd be a problem, too, from a noise perspective. So it probably wouldn't hurt to give it a look, but I doubt you're hearing anything problematic.

I dont think there is a problem. Just at times when the idle is slightly higher it does sound pretty dam nice. Nothing loud like a leak or some kind of problem. I guess if it gets way too loud then ill have it checked out. Right now its about 10-15% percent louder than before at times but only during idle, not when Im running. BTW my car is so stock its not even funny Thanks!

My Buschur 3" turbo back with high flow cat and Magnaflow sounded sweet when i first got it, but over time i have noticied it seems quieter. Still sounds really nice, but just not as loud as I would like. Maybe my ears have just adjusted to it.. I dunno.

mine has 33,000 miles on it now, and it definitely is louder at idle in the last 10,000 miles or so, even more so under throttle... sounds aftermarket and several have asked "what exaust did you put on it?"...

my only performance mod is a WORKS P2 reflash

I've noticed this louder-at-idle sound also. It seems to be most likely to happen when the exhaust is really hot (ie. after my 1 hour commute home), or it's very hot outside. During last winter, I didn't hear it loud at idle even once. I dunno if the flapper door spring changes based on temp or what.. but I prefer the louder sound.

It's not just idle. It's actually even louder if you're coasting down in first gear at around 10mph.
