SRT-4 Neon - EVO VIII

The Neon SRT-4 with 1 wheel drive (no LSD) can run off the ¼ in 13.8-14.2 seconds with the Magazine guys (who usually have a hard time driving well) at the wheel.

I think Mitsu is owned by Daimler/chrysler, so hopefully the same but better **** will be used for the EVO VIII. We should be in the damn low 13's if the EVO follows suit!

For $20k that Neon is pretty decent! (get rid of the huge wing) I would hate to get beat by one.

I think i saw about 2900lbs for the neon..... hopefully we won't be over 3100lbs..... (pushing M3 territory beyond that).

I don't think straight line performance was what either of these cars were built for primarily.

I'll second that, for an EVO, I'd rather have a much better 0-60-0 figure and a good amount of mid range torque

Yeah, read any British (or German if you know the lingo) car magazine and they'll tell you the car was made to rip up the country back roads or mountain roads (in Germany's case the Autobahn may also apply, though it's less fun...)

I guess my point was more like...... wow, the crappy neon is pretty neat.... the EVO VIII should be damned neat! Not concentrating just on the fact that it fast in a straight line.

I'll second both points, Mega.

EDIT: I still don't see the SRT-4 as doing as well as the Evo in a windy road or rally terrain, but in Auto-X it should tear up some serious isht. Can't wait to see for sure.

The LSD would have been a nice option. Gotta commend dodge on the "gamble" with the mufflerless exhaust. I still think it's *** ugly, but, the performance is hard to argue with.

I just read a couple of articles about the SRT-4. The listed weight is 2970 lbs. just for reference.

heh, my car doesn't have a muffler, just a small resonator. why is that a "gamble"? besides, the turbo does quiet it some. in fact the exhaust sounds almost exactly like mine.

and it isnt 1 wheel drive it will smoke both wheels in 3 rd.

and they will be offering lsd in mopar's performance catalog soon after release.

Did you just put a Dodge Neon in the same sentence as an Evo VIII? Are you insane? Sorry......which would you rather have?

The logic of this thread is stupid. "The Neon runs a 1/4 mile in blah blah blah let's compare it to the Evo!". Unless the SRT is putting out more HP then the VIII, or VII for that matter, I wouldn't be caught dead in that ugly *** car.

95% of American cars = **** (Lightning, Cobra/R, Viper, Saleen are cool)

EDIT: Did you just say you don't want to get beat by one....maybe it will use that ugly wing to fly instead
