It's supply and demand. Remember when the first new gen VW Bug came out. There were people in Cali who bought one for 30 grand.

Yeah I'm not a fan of that particular dealership. Sucks *****.

Example of why they suck *****:

1. The salesman tells me that STOCK, the Evo hits 60 in 4.5s (I could've sworn everyone else told me 5.0s) and that it's faster than the STi in a straightline.

2. That you can't modify the STi in any way.

3. That he owns an Evo and beat the crap out of two STi's with 3k worth of mods (wtf did he just say a few minutes ago?)

Yeah I was losing I.Q. points talking to the guy.

R & T says 4.8. Many launches like that tho, you will be buying a new clutch.

I wouldn't sweat it. Lots of folks paying MSRP or less. I'd either look for another dealership, or just not get an MR. Let some other fool pay $15,000 over and whine about it later.

Or you could put the difference in your EVO and eat the MR for breakfast.

Welcome to capitalism. Low supply + high demand = sky high prices.

No S*%$ dude. Fowler Mitsubishi here in Oklahoma wanted 28.5 for a used yellow Evo8 basic package w/almost 7K miles on it. I totally schooled the mitsu sales guys as a group when they started laying down their complete lack of real knowledge of the Evo. The first guy that showed me the car, opened the hood...said, "And this is what makes it go..." And f***in shut the hood. Then as a group they tried to explain why their prices were so high(MR costing a hair over 42K). I even schooled them on Mitsu's ****ty resale value and why their little speech was a load of crap. I bought my RA from another dealership and drove it by fowler to show them the sticker. (3.5K less than their sticker, both cars w/out SS package) F*** those dealers.

Four week prior to the MR hitting the street the same dealer was marking up plain '04's to the tune of $5000, not including adders such as window VIN etching, etc.

noticed your in Illinois.. try calling Larry Roesch Mitsubishi in Bensensville ask for Herman Vasquez 630-860-3100 tell him Steve reffered you.. he is a no nonsense type of guy.. simple just tell him what you want to pay MSRP or whatever and he'll give you a straight up answer yes or no, no bs'ing around.. He wont mark up a RS model.

good luck!

Wait until the initial buzz is over, you can probably get one for a few hundred over invoice.

His first statement is right. Motor Trend got 4.59. And some magazines do have it faster than an STi in a straight line. Due to the 3rd gear upshift for the STi just before 60mph.
