wait 3 months. They'll start selling them at MSRP when they find out nobody is buying them at dealer markup.

unless people start buying them at dealer markup.

This is what happened to the 03 evo's.

don't pay mark-up. walk away or tell them u want the car at msrp and see what they can do. especially on new cars, they try every way to rip ppl off. i got mine at msrp. i was trying to go lower, but they agreed to take my 02 WRX wagon at $16500, so sounds good deal for it.

I'm sure some good deals go on at Des Moines Mitsubishi, but that is a different market all together from California and New York Metro. If you have bought before or know sales reps personally, MSRP is possible in the major metros. As for those worrying about all the MRs getting snatched up before invoice or MSRP prices are available in every market, the same naysayers were worried about the '03 allotment being fully sold way above MSRP. It's never going to happen.

Van Nuys has a $5995 markup on a WW MR

Also, they have a markup of $4995 on a silver 05 GSR with Leather.

Just returned from First Team Mitsubishi in Chesapeake, Virginia. They have ONE MR Edition, silver. Had the boost gauge panel, brake handle, shift knob and pedals installed. No leather. No roof.

Pricing:
$35595 sticker
$1195 "Dealer Prep"
$3995 "Market Adjustment"
$500 Interior Treatment
$500 Paint and clearcoat treatment
Grand total: $41785

Mind you, that price isn't out the door...they still have to get you for fees, tax, title, etc.

Even though I am a current Evo owner and I purchased it from this dealership, I was not allowed to test drive the MR Edition. The sales manager said no way. He said "It's only got 5 more horsepower." I said "I don't care about the horsepower. It is the handling that has changed, and if I like it enough, I will buy it, but not until I drive it (Which was total BS at that price)." Sales manager says "We aren't demoing the MR."

I said "Well, I hope you like it sitting out there because that car with those ridiculous markups totaling almost $42,000 is never going to sell." But, I fear that some moron with more money than brains will come along and pay the asking price no questions asked. Morons with more money than brains.

And, my personal opinion is the BBS rims look like absolute crap on a silver car. They match on the graphite car, which looks great, but when they don't match, they look like shiz. I'll take my Enkei's any day over the BBS.

The vortex generator - that's kinda neat. I like it.

They also had a silver 05 with a $2995 markup. These guys are on another planet. Unforunately, the Hampton Roads area of Virginia is the Navy capital of the world, so I think these jerks are hoping to prey on some Navy sailor who just got back from 6 months deployment with a chunk of sea pay who will take a $40,000 note on a $30,000 car. Sadly, I think that happens a lot.

EDIT: Decided to do the calculations myself, some of these numbers I'm taking from my transaction in 2003, so they may not be 100% accurate but it still paints an equally disgusting picture:

5% Sales Tax in Chesapeake, VA
36.20 "Gross Receipt Tax"
1195.00 Extended warranty
2089.00 Title Tax
22.00 License and title
59.75 Warranty Tax
399.00 Service Fee

Grand out-the-door total: $45585

I'm going to be sick.

holy god! that's ridiculous. I could buy a used m5 with that price. In Good CONDITION!

although there are only going to be about 1000 evo's for this sales year, I don't think its worth buying it with markups.

I guess my response to those dealers that mark EVO's up would be as follows...

"So, you want me to pay you $6500 more than what the manufacturer says the EVO is worth. Will you give me, in writing, a guarantee that when I trade it in, you'll give me $6500 more than what NADA or KBB says the EVO is worth? Hmmmm?"

Regards,
Joel

MSRP + $1500 = Westborough , MA

While I was getting my oil changed a guy (early to mid 20's at best) purchased a charcaol color one with markup. The salesman said they already sold like 2-3 of these MR's already. I saw 2 sold at the dealer (including the one I just mentioned). He claims that they will be getting more soon!

So, even with markups there is alway someone willing to pay...
