This is my plan. Help me out ppl

Hey there I'm new to the forums and hoping to get some help here, im lookin into getting an evo. I have owned my wrx for about a year and I love it, i never really thoght about getting an evo until I came across this online http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...497584783&rd=1 its a wrecked evo on ebay, So i decided instead of modding my WRX maybe i should just buy an evo, does anyone know how much that auction will go up? im hoping to sell my wrx for 15k and than buy that wrecked evo and fix it up for less money, labor is free, so I would have to pay for parts and paint. The only reason im considering a wrecked evo is because i think that is all i can afford, anyone have any idea how much damage is on that car? Ok well thanks to any replys, and if anyone has seen evos for about 15 grand, LOL lemme know so I can look into that.

You'll spend more money on that than if you would buy a new MR.

That things frame is messed up. You do know that frames can't be never straight again, right? even if you get the pro to fix it.

You don't even know if the engine is any good or even the turbo is good. Looks like the intercooler is gone, you need to replace the right door, IC sprayer is gone, looks like the AC's gotta be replaced and god knows there's no picture of the turbo or any of the transmission pictures.

I don't think its worth it.

It'll be good for a parts car. I'll say keep your WRX and make it go fast. You can't get an Evo for 15 grand, they hold their value.

The only reason the EVO wreck is on Ebay is that it is an insurance total loss. I bet there is serious frame damage. When an ins. co. has to pay off a total loss, they take possession of the wreck and sell it to a salvage co. That's who's selling this EVO.

Can you think of any other scenario where this car gets on ebay with a current bid of about $5K? Stay away from it.

I would pay $2000 max for that car. For the interior (seats, steering wheel, shifter assembly, interior trim, carpet (maybe) and rims, along with the tail-lights and body panels/the wing.).

Anything beyond parts car, it's not worth it. You'll be out of your mind to fix that and drive it, unless you could fix it for free that is.

I think it depends on how much you can do yourself to fix it up. If it is only exterior damage then it's not that bad. I would pay over 6k

i think i figured it out, im only 18, and I im in High School, I have a steadyt job right now and get about 400 a month (nothing for older people but something for me) during the summer I will get much more but im busy right now, Im hoping I can sell my wrx for about 15, and then get my dad to make the payments every month on a used evo and I will pay him the cash, Im thinkin that if you throw down 15k with perfect credit it will be between the 300-400 a month range. If anyone else has suggestions hit me up.

I do have more one question how do monthly payments work from private sellers? Do i get a loan from the bank and pay them each month? is that cheaper than doing it from the dealer or am i misunderstanding all of this? here is a description of the car I found.

2003 MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION VIII, Rally red, 360hp Vishnu Stage 1, rear wing, garaged, int and ext in perfect condition, looks like new, 8800mi, $25,500

From E-bay ad:
It Needs A Front Bumper, 1 Wheel, Hood, Right Fender, Core Support, Radiator, Intercooler(Possibly Straighten), Right Door Mirror, Bump The Right Door.
There's a lot more that needs replaced than that, and they suggest possibly straightening the IC?

Keep the WRX and mod it. You don't want to spend the time and money to repair this Evo. Wait until you get a real job, so you can buy a new Evo.

If you were to find a used Evo for around 25k, once you register and pay taxes you'll likely be around 27k. Minus 15k for your sold wrx, now you're at 12k you need to borrow. Being 18 you're not likely to get a great interest rate unless you can get someone with good credit (your Dad?) to cosign on the loan. If thats the case then you might get a loan with 5-6% apr. 12k @ 5-6% for 3 years is $360ish, for 4 years is $280ish per month. Don't forget to shop for insurance ahead of time because that can be a big deal breaker.
