strange grinding problem at low speeds

after attempts to determine what is wrong with my evo i decided to see if anyone else has had a simular problem or solution. My RS is making a strange almost grinding noise at slow speeds at which point i do not seem to have any power. When this happens i immedietly restart the car and everything is perfectly fine. I was thinking it could be a clutch problem? do we have a hydraulic or cable clutch system? perhaps its fluid issue when the clutch plate is pressing? The problem occurs mostly in heavy and slow traffic situations. Its worth noting that the problem has been occuring more frequently as it is driven. anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance!

i cannot determine where the noise is comming from exactly. all i can say is that it seems to be comming from the front. Hopefully is its only a software issue, considering how restarting the car solves the problem.
