Yup I have heard the same thing also saw an article in a car magazine about it starting in like 2006 all cars will have to be NA and limited to 2.0 liter inline 4 engine which deffinately hurts mitsu and especially subbie because subies engines are boxer and no inline at all even without the turbo. Reason for the change was the growing costs of the cars but I don't see why company's like mitsu and subbie can't afford to throw together a 100,000 dollar competition car once a year. .. so I'm not sure why they gave that reason.

do you think that thatll affect either the subies or mitsus since alot of what goes into them is derived from the wrc?

I don't think that will effect their product line that much they are making too much money with the Evo and Sti to discontinue them. We may end up seeing an AWD Ralliart or a 2.0 RS from subbie as a result but thats total speculation I don't know that for sure.

Too bad they can't go to a 'regulated' turbo design. The advent of a turboless 2.0 I4 is a step backwards ... turbos are 'free' power and I think 'meant' to be in 'modern' automobiles.

I doubt they will enact that new rule. It could force some manufacturers (namely subie) to drop out of WRC. FIA certainly can't afford that.

That's because it's not for companies like mitsu and subbie.

It will not effect Subaru or Mitsu. The rules have changed back in 1999 going from Group A to the WRC class. That allowed for Citroen, Hyundai, Skoda and Peugeot to enter. (Those manufacturers do not have turbo charged awd cars) Our cars are Group N cars. Until they change Group N, Subaru and Mitsu will keep on pumping out Evos and STi's.

I don't know about Citroen, I heard that they want to put their new model out which is the C4, and I think they delayed their start untill 2006
