You can get the price lower. I just bought my 03 from a dealer with 200 miles on it for 23k. Dealerships here in Louisiana are having a hard time selling EVOs. Try to talk him down to 24 or even 23 and hop on the 03 for sure!!

I've traded my 03 for the MR. The MR rocks. Love the Front LSD, ACD, softer and better handling shocks, 6-speed and aluminum roof.

I fear the demo miles. You gotta think about how the engine might have been broken in, and how the clutch was treated.

use2vtec...thanks for the 2003 Evo8 pricing feedback! Since I am leaning toward the 2003 I am currently trying to negotiate pricing toward the $23,000 mark. This would enable me to work better on the "enhancements" that will follow with my project Evo.

Umm, why not split the difference? Why not just hold out for a 2005 Evo Viii NON-MR. It will cost you less then the MR and only slightly more then the 03.. With the o5 you get more power, better boost response etc.... You still save like 3 grand or so..

My thoughts exactly, 500 demo miles. Five hundred miles of people test driving, and some rather agressively, a new Evo that probably never got broken in properly. I don't care how much the price difference, it's still not worth the beating it could possibly have gotten early in life. I'd go with the new one with no demo miles.

Joe's Evo8...thanks for the lead to Obrien Mitsu in IL. I will contact them tomorrow with regards to the availability of their Evo8's. Thanks, the more Evo's I find on the market...the better negotiating power I can have to get "fair" pricing. I will let you know how the negotiation goes. Thanks again for the heads up!

a1andres...good point! I will consider your recommendation. Quick question though...why is it that all the mitsu dealers in my area are so mis-informed as to when new models are coming in etc. I don't know if you have the same problems with getting info from the dealers as to when the 2005 models will be arriving. If you find out about the 2005...drop me a line.

If they give you the good warranty, then get the 03, if not then get the mr

Get the MR if you're going to track and autocross it. I can't begin to tell you how many modded evo 8's I lapped in my stock MR with just 245 series BF KD street tires. The suspension tuning on the MR is unreal for a stock suspension.

Like I said for street, get the 03 evo 8. if you're into track days, all that you will need is Khumo Rs or Hoosiers with the MR.

my .02 cent
Maron...great feedback! No, I won't be tracking the Evo8. Mostly, it will be used for pure driving pleasure. Basically, it will most probably live a pampered life.

omg, just do the evo 8, if you aren't hardcore auto-x, the regular gsr is a great handler already, that 9k difference can buy you 3 different turbo kits! yield money to build internals and have a 450whp evo machine..

Well to answer your question, at least a short answer. When it comes to limited production cars (not sure how limited the standard EVo 8 is anymore), a dealer is usually "Assigned" a certain amount of units depending on that particular dealership's past performance. What I mean is, if dealership 'A' sold 10 EVo's in 03 and 04 and dealership 'B' sold 2 in 03 and 04, then Dealership 'A' would most likely get more EVO's quicker... Hope that makes some sense...

If you are serious about buying an EVO, why not go into the dealer and order the car? Get it how YOU want it, not how it happens to show up at the dealer. I would stay FAR FAR away from that 03 evo with the 500 miles.. Something tells me those weren't 500 "break-in" miles.

Even when you are planning on ordering the EVO, you can still shop the price.. A dealer that KNOWS they are going to sell the car as soon as it comes in, might be willing to play with the numbers...
