Talking You decide for me...'03 Evo8..or '05 MR

Fellow Evo8 members...here is my delema. The last week my local Mitsu dealer called me to let me know that he had secured a 2003 Evo8 which has never been titled! I explained that I would be away for the week on business and would stop by to purchase when I arrived back in town. Upon returning, I was amazed to have several phone calls from the dealer telling me that a 2005 Evo MR just arrived and that he is willing to negotiate on either car to move them fast before year end.

Here are the deals:
1. 2003 Evo8 (never titled, 500 demo miles)....for $26,200
2. 2005 Evo8 MR ....for $34,594

Give me your feedback as to which deal to make. I am tossing both deals back and forth to the point where it is driving me mad!

Please help by giving your input!

Well, it all depends on if you want to spend about $9K more for a few more luxuries (so to speak) I have thought about the MR, but cant justify trading or selling my car to add almost $10K more to my current loan.

Buy whatever you think is gonna make you happy. You could have a killer Evo if you buy the 03 and mod it a bit with the money you save. But its your decision. I guess if it was me Id probably be getting the 03. Dont get me wrong I love the MR, but im happy with my car

Buy the '03 and turn it into an MR for less than the extra 8k, then buy your girl/wife/significant other a nice gift with the money you saved.

Thanks...Forbiden, Twan & Evil Evo! With all your input, here is the direction I am thinking of going:
1. Purchase of 2003 Evo8 ($26,000)
2. Add APR Performance Evil-R Widebody Conversion ($ unknown...if you know tell me!)
3. Add CCW 18 x 10" w/ 285/30/18 all around ($ 3500 estimated)
4. Buy wife expensive diamond bracelet to discract her from the Evo8 project!!

I think this direction with the 2003 Evo8 might be viable option for building an increadible EVO for the same or less than an MR! Give me your input as to other options that are necessary to make this project worth while!

I love it when a plan starts to come together!!!

2003 - just make sure everything about the car is in order and that they will honor the warranty fully.

Also keep in mind the MR comes with a longer warranty if that matters to you.

eeww demo

make sure that they fix the clutch if it goes out under 15k. They should give some type of "better" warranty to protect yourself.

Anyway, buy the 03 then put a ****load of money into it. Then buy the wifey something if you have any left :-)

Get the Evo 8 if you're just going to do some street driving and a little bit of street racing.
Get the MR if you're going to track and autocross it. I can't begin to tell you how many modded evo 8's I lapped in my stock MR with just 245 series BF KD street tires. The suspension tuning on the MR is unreal for a stock suspension.

Like I said for street, get the 03 evo 8. if you're into track days, all that you will need is Khumo Rs or Hoosiers with the MR.

my .02 cent

I would say that you are already leaning towards getting the 03, because you have already come up with some ideas on what to use the money that you are going to save on. So I believe that the 03 EVO is the better choice for you. I just feel that if you bought the 05 MR, you may regret your choice and wonder why you spent so much money. Don't get me wrong, I believe the MR is an awesome car, and justifies it's price tag, but everybodies situations are different, and in this situation I would say the better option for you is the 2003.

Just remember...Demo miles are usually hard miles, and the 03 your looking at has 500 of them. That price is hard to beat though. Good luck, you will enjoy either one of them!

I would get the 03 Evo8 due to the price difference.
Get your dealer to lower the price more and I'm sure he can do it.
Negotiate!

Dont get the wheels/tires as they are too expensive and add weight to your car.
$3500 for a set of wheels/tires is just silly.

Keep the money for reinvestment somewhere.
