no launch rev limiter on 05 RS

This is a really interesting thread. I'm looking to pick up an '05 RS after Christmas. If the RS model doesn't have the 5k launch limiter it makes me wonder if Mitsu put anything into the RS ECU that looks for high RPM launches and records it. I think the E46 M3 w/SMG has something like that. After "x" amount of high RPM launches your warranty is restricted. The ECU keeps count apparently.

same here but i have looked at my avcr and afc for the rpm it kicks in at 4870 not 5000

5k limiter sounds like a good no lift to shift feature. i pick up my 05 rs on tuesday probably will not try the 5k test for a few hunderd miles or so.

I don't think you have to actually drop the clutch to test it. Just put it in 1st, press the clutch, and give it some gas. If the engine revs past 5k then you know.

im not sure if u guys said if the 04s were suppoesd to ahve the 5k limiter or not..but i have a 04 evo 8...and i dont have one

.....whenever i race i slip it hard at 5 1/2....its a great launch...

Yeah you have a 2005 Evo VIII,but is it an RS ???? He said that his was an RS MODEL not a SSL Evo VIII.

to set off the rev limiter, you have to be in first gear, and rev the car. i don't think the limiter engages in neutral.
