Mitsu Dealers and Clutches

Has anyone had experience with dealers allowing and installing aftermarket clutches without voiding warranty?

Allowing an aftermarket clutch on an evo was no problem. The dealership installing one was not something they wanted to do though. The service manager at Otto Mitsubishi in NY is really cool about mods!

Bill Penney in Alabama installed my ACT clutch and it's fine. They warranty workmanship but wont warranty anything, especially the transfer case or transmission.

some dealerships will install things but wont warranty it.

it's a chance you take.

I've found most dealerships will install "customer supplied replacement parts" since they want/need the business. However, they will almost always say what was already posted.

They will cover the workmanship, but not the part. (It's not theirs anyway)

So this leads to a strong question...If the clutch fails prematurely, who is responsible? The dealer is gonna blame the manufacturer ('cuz they don't make mistakes ) and the manufacturer is gonna blame the install.

The only person in the end that has to pay is you, the customer.

that's true. You're screw either way, so start saving up money and look for a good mechanic.
